Transforming a Classic Home: Grace & Morris Architects’ Stunning Ilkley Renovation

Grace and Morris Architects recently completed the renovation and extension of a large residential property in Ilkley. The project involved a full transformation of the existing home, combining elements of contemporary design with the building’s original architectural character.

The property underwent a comprehensive renovation, including the addition of a new extension designed to complement the existing structure. The extension was planned to improve natural light, internal circulation and the relationship between indoor and outdoor areas, while maintaining proportions and materials that align with the character of the original house.

A prominent feature of the project is a custom-designed staircase, intended to serve as a central visual element within the interior. Its design and finish were developed to reflect the client’s preferences and to function as a focal point within the home.

The house also incorporates bronze-framed windows, selected to introduce a warm visual tone and provide durability and performance.

Externally, the scheme includes a new double car garage designed to coordinate with the main house. The approach to the property is completed with a fishtail block driveway, added to provide a durable and visually cohesive entrance.
