With so many new destinations making it to the hot list in 2025, here are a few ideas of how to make the most out of your trip and places I will be visiting this summer…

The Douro Valley, located in northern Portugal, is one of the most stunning wine regions in the world. Known for its terraced vineyards and scenic river views, it’s the heart of Portugal’s Port wine production, as well as a region rich in traditional and modern table wines.
Many wineries offer tasting experiences with panoramic views of the valley. These tours often include a walk through the vineyards, explanations of the winemaking process, and food pairings with the wines. The Douro River adds a stunning backdrop to any visit, making the whole experience feel magical. Consider taking a river cruise that stops at some of the vineyards along the way. These cruises often offer wine tastings onboard, a fabulous way to maximise the whole experience.
Puglia
Puglia is known for its traditional cuisine, which pairs beautifully with the local wines. Don’t miss out on trying orecchiette (the region’s famous pasta), taralli (savoury bread-sticks), focaccia, and fresh seafood.
Many wineries in Puglia are set in picturesque locations, often near the coast or nestled within olive groves, making wine tasting a sensory experience that goes beyond just taste. Opportunities to explore the historic towns, beaches and family run vineyards are abundant in this stunning destination.
I will be heading to a villa not far from Salento in the summer. Located in the south of Puglia, famous for its robust red wines made from the Primitivo and Negroamaro grapes. The region’s sunny, dry climate and rich soil contribute to the full-bodied, intense flavors.
Stay at Meneghetti Wine Hotel & Winery
Located in Istria, Croatia, this luxury property offers an immersive wine tasting experience amidst its picturesque vineyards and olive groves. The estate produces a variety of wines, including robust reds and crisp whites, which guests can sample during their tasting sessions.
